Aruba’s Musical Heritage Shines at Free Summer Camp for Kids

Aruba PanMan Foundation, together with Unoca and Unoca Cares program, organized a summer steelpan workshop/camp this summer. The steelpan camp was free of charge  for all participants and available to all ages.

The steelpan camp was led by teachers Angel Hazel, Lee Connor, and Nico Connor at Skol Di Arte in San Nicolas, were the trio of musicians  also teach steelpan/music weekly.

The four-day camp developed music notation reading skills, sight-reading, and pan performance. At the end of the camp, all participants received an Aruba PanMan Foundation certification for their input and dedication to the steelpan instrument.  The camp was a cultural education for Aruba’s youth, exposing them to a vital component of the island’s musical heritage.
