Aruba’s National Day: Dia di Himno y Bandera

Today is Aruba’s Flag and Anthem Day, and while everyone is practicing social distancing in light of COVID-19, elementary school REINA BEATRIX was visited by the Prime Minister a few days before local schools closed to celebrate Aruba’s national day, a week in advance, and get one more festive event in before the lockdown.

The premier shared the historical background of the Flag & Anthem Day and explained the significance of the island’s iconic symbols of independence within the Dutch kingdom.

The premier also used the opportunity to explain to the kids what her government is doing to combat the spread of the Corona Virus, and asked the students not to view the school closing as a holiday, but to continue home learning and follow online school assignments.
